Himouto! Umaru-chan ( 干物妹!うまるちゃん , Himōto! Umaru-chan ) [a] is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Sankaku Caput. It began serialization in Shueisha'southward seinen manga magazine Weekly Immature Leap on March fourteen, 2013. It has been collected in twelve tankōbon volumes. An culling version was serialized for two capacity in Shueisha'south monthly magazine Miracle Leap in 2012. An anime television series adaptation aired in 2015. A second flavor titled Himouto! Umaru-chan R aired from Oct to December 2017, while a sequel serial titled Himouto! Umaru-chan G was released in November 2017.

Premise [edit]

Umaru Doma is a loftier school girl living with her older blood brother Taihei. At school, Umaru appears to exist the ideal student with good looks, superlative grades and many talents. However, she transforms into a kid-sized layabout and spends time at domicile feeding her video game and food addiction, much to Taihei's dismay. Throughout the series, Umaru uses her alternative personality to brand friends with others, while at home she throws tantrums nigh Taihei not buying her things.

A high school girl with beautiful looks, top grades and excellence in everything. Umaru's buxom classmate living in the footing-flooring flat most the siblings. She is very shy,[viii] Ch. two, viii and is originally from Akita Prefecture, occasionally reverting to dialect when she is nervous. Considering of her breasts, she has a lack of conviction every bit people wait at her. The first person to look her in the eyes is Taihei, whom she later has a beat onCh. 13 and gets flustered whenever he gives her compliments.Ch. 32 Nana's brother works at a eating place in Tokyo. The manga first appeared in Shueisha's monthly magazine Phenomenon Leap in 2012 for two capacity: first in the 10th issue on Baronial sixteen and again in the 11th issue on October 16.[15] [xvi] Information technology was serialized in Weekly Immature Jump [5] from March xiv, 2013.[17] A total of twelve tankōbon volumes were published. A spin-off focused on Nana Ebina, titled "Akita Imokko! Ebina-chan" ( 秋田妹!えびなちゃん , lit. Akita Native Piddling Sister Ebina ) that is currently running on Niconico Seiga website and other platforms subsequently ranked first on the website's popularity poll.[12] Vii Seas Entertainment released the manga in English.[xviii] The manga ended serialization on November 9, 2017.[xix] A sequel manga titled Himōto! Umaru-chan Grand began serialization on November xxx, 2017 and ended on Apr nineteen, 2018.[20] [21]

Anime [edit]

An anime television series adaptation is produced by Doga Kobo.[8] The series was directed by Masahiko Ohta and written by Takashi Aoshima, with character design past Aya Takano and sound direction by Yasunori Ebina.[eight] [45] It was circulate on the Asahi Dissemination Corporation in Japan from July 9 to September 24, 2015,[46] [47] and was simulcast worldwide by Crunchyroll.[48] The opening theme is "Kakushin-teki Metamarufōze!" ( かくしん的☆めたまるふぉ〜ぜっ! , lit. Cadre Footing: Metamorphosis! ) performed by Aimi Tanaka, while the catastrophe theme is "Hidamari Days" ( ひだまりデイズ , Sunshine Days ) performed by Tanaka, Akari Kageyama, Haruka Shiraishi and Yurina Furukawa. The series is licensed in North America past Sentai Filmworks.[iv] An original video blitheness was bundled with the manga's seventh book on October 19, 2015, with another to be bundled with the 10th volume of the manga in Q2 2017.[49] In the Weekly Young Jump magazine'southward 20th event of 2017, a second season of the anime series titled Himouto! Umaru-chan R was appear for autumn 2017 with the same cast.[50] The opening theme is "Nimensei Ura Omote Life!" (にめんせい☆ウラオモテライフ!) performed by Tanaka. The ending theme is "Umarun Taisou" (うまるん体操) performed by Sisters (妹S), the voice actresses of the four principal girls. The 2d season was simulcast on Anime Strike in the United States,[51] on Hidive outside of the Usa,[52] and on AnimeLab in Australia and New Zealand.[53] Sentai Filmworks has announced on September 27, 2017 that they take licensed Himouto! Umaru-chan R. [54] In the United kingdom, MVM Films announced they had licensed Himouto! Umaru-chan R.[55] In the Philippines, Umaru-chan was broadcast in Tagalog on the Hero and Yey! pay Boob tube channels.[56] [57]

Video game [edit]

A PlayStation Vita sister-raising simulation game developed by FuRyu, titled Himōto! Umaru-chan: Himōto! Ikusei Keikaku ( 干物妹!うまるちゃん ~干物妹!育成計画~ , lit. "Himōto! Umaru-chan: Himōto! Preparation Plan"), was released on Dec 3, 2015.[58]

The manga had sold 2.2 million copies in November 2015.[59] Information technology had sold 2.vii million copies by March 2017.[60]
